POPPY SEED CASSEROLE | |
A great low fat family meal! 1 1/2 lbs. ground raw turkey 1/2 c. chopped onion 1/3 c. chopped green pepper, optional 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper 1 (8 oz.) pkg. wide noodles 1 (8 oz.) pkg. light cream cheese, cubed 1 c. low fat cottage cheese 1/2 c. plain yogurt 1 tbsp. poppy seeds In a large skillet cook turkey, onion and green pepper. Drain. Stir in tomato sauce, salt and pepper. Cook noodles according to package directions. Combine cheeses, yogurt and poppy seeds. Toss cheese mixture with the hot noodles. Layer 3/4 of noodle mixture in a 9x13 pan. Spoon meat mixture over center of noodles, leaving a 1 to 2 inch border. Top with remaining noodles. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes; covered. Uncover and bake 10 to 15 minutes more. |
