APPLE BARS 
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
2/3 c. milk
10 apples, peeled and sliced
Cinnamon
1 c. shortening
1 egg yolk
1 egg white
2 handfuls crushed cornflakes
3/4 c. sugar

Mix flour, sugar, salt and shortening as if pie dough.

In a cup, beat egg yolk slightly; add 2/3 cup of milk. Add egg and milk to mixture. Roll dough half of it to fit 12 x 17 inch pan. Sprinkle with corn flakes. Lay apples on crust; sprinkle sugar and cinnamon over apples. Roll remaining crust to fit top. Beat egg whites slightly and brush over top before baking. Bake 50-55 minutes at 400 degrees. While warm, drizzle with powdered icing.
