PEANUTTY CRISS CROSSES 
3 c. oats, uncooked
1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
3/4 c. butter (butter), softened
1 c. peanut butter
1 1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1/3 c. water
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg

Beat together butter, peanut butter, and sugar until light and fluffy. Blend in water, egg, and vanilla. Add dry ingredients; mix well. Chill dough about 1 hour. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Shape dough in 1 inch balls. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten with tines of fork dipped in sugar to form criss-cross pattern. Bake until edges are golden brown. Cool 1 minute and remove to wire rack. Bake at 350 degrees for 9 to 10 minutes. Yield: 7 dozen cookies.
