3/4 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. milk
4 eggs
3 1/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
3 tsp. baking powder
3 tsp. vanilla
2 oz. unsweetened chocolate
1/4 tsp. baking soda

Cream shortening, sugar and 2 tablespoons milk until light and fluffy. Beat eggs in, one at a time. Sift flour and measure. Sift again with salt and baking powder. Add sifted dry ingredients, alternately with remaining liquid. Add vanilla and melted chocolate, then combine with soda. Divide batter by spoonfuls into a greased floured tube pan, alternately white and chocolate. Take knife and run through to marble mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes.
