MOLASSES CAKES 
One pint New Orleans molasses, 1 teacup brown sugar, 10 tablespoonfuls melted lard, 1 teacup boiling water, 8 teacups flour, 1 tablespoonful baking soda. Mix and let stand until morning, then roll out medium thick and bake. This makes 4 1/2 or 5 dozen cakes.
