AUNT LOUISE'S MOLASSES CAKES (COOKIES) | |
1 big c. sugar 1 big c. molasses (homemade preferred, otherwise use Grandma's Molasses) 3/4 c. shortening 1 tsp. baking soda, dissolved in 1/4 c. hot water 1 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 tsp. cloves 1 tsp. ginger Let molasses and sugar come to a boil. Add shortening. Stir until well mixed. Add a pinch of salt. Add rest of ingredients and enough flour to roll out. (NOTE: It takes about 9 cups flour.) Roll out and cut in desired shapes and bake for 10 minutes at 350 degrees. Makes about 5 dozen. |
