MOLASSES CAKE 
1 1/4 c. sugar
1 to 1 1/2 tbsp. Crisco
2 eggs
1 c. molasses
1 c. warm water
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1/2 c. raisins
2 1/4 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/4 tsp. allspice

Cream together until light and fluffy, sugar, Crisco, eggs. Add molasses add water to molasses cup to get all the molasses out add to mix well. It may look runny, don't worry. Sift together all dry ingredients. Fold into cream mixture until well blended. Add nuts and raisin. Bake at 350 degrees in 13 x 9 pan, greased and flour for 25 to 35 minutes.

Serve warm with whip cream or applesauce or lemon sauce. Substitute one can unsweetened applesauce for molasses and water for applesauce spice cake.
