1 German chocolate cake mix
1 (10 oz.) pkg. caramels
1 c. pecans
1 stick butter
1/2 c. milk
3/4 c. chocolate chips

Prepare cake mix according to box directions. Pour 1/2 of batter into greased 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake for 20 minutes at 350 degrees. Remove from oven. Meanwhile, melt caramels, butter and milk in double boiler. When cake is still hot, pour caramel mixture on top. Sprinkle with nuts and chocolate chips. Dot remaining batter on top. Return to oven, bake at 250 degrees for 20 minutes (to melt chips). Then turn oven to 350 degrees and bake an additional 10 to 15 minutes until done.
