ICICLE PICKLES 
2 gal. cucumbers, cut lengthwise
1 gal. boiling water
1 pt. salt

Mix salt into boiling water. Pour over cucumbers. Let stand 1 week. Stir each day. Drain. Pour 1 gallon boiling water over cucumbers. Leave for 24 hours. Drain.

STEP 2:
1 gal. boiling water
2 tbsp. powder alum

Mix above and pour over cucumbers. Leave 24 hours. Drain.

STEP 3:
2 qts. vinegar
8 pts. sugar
1 sm. box pickling spice

Mix above and heat to boiling. Pour over cucumbers. Take cucumbers out and reheat vinegar mixture each day for 4 days. On 4th day put pickles into jars. Heat vinegar and pour over pickles. Seal.
