PENNSYLVANIA APPLE TORTE 
CRUST:

1/2 c. butter
1/3 c. sugar
1 tsp. grated orange rind
1 c. all-purpose flour

FILLING:

1 pkg. (8 oz.) cream cheese, softened
1/3 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
1 tsp. lemon juice
1 can (20 oz.) apple pie filling

TOPPING:

8 oz. container whipped topping

Garnish with slices of Red Delicious apples (if desired).

Prepare crust by creaming butter, sugar and orange rind. Blend flour into mixture. Spread dough onto bottom and sides of 10 inch springform pan. Prepare filling in a large bowl, beat cream cheese and sugar; mix well. Add eggs and lemon juice; mix well. Fold in prepared pastry lined pan.

Bake in 425 degree oven for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 375 degrees. Continue to bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown and knife inserted in center comes out clean. Cool before removing rim of pan. Before serving garnish whipped topping around edge of apple torte. Place a slice of Pennsylvania Red Delicious Apple slice on each cut serving if desired. Serves 12 to 14.
