GRANDMOTHER'S FRESH APPLE CAKE 
6 to 7 lg. apples
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
2 eggs
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt

Peel and dice apples. Put aside. Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and sifted dry ingredients. Mix well. Bake in greased 9 x 13 inch pan for 45 to 60 minutes at 375 degrees until the top has a light crust and a toothpick comes out clean.
