BUTTERMILK WHITE CAKE 
1 cup Crisco shortening
2 cups sugar (save 1/4 cup for egg whites)
3 cups plain White Lily flour
1/8 tsp. baking soda
2 round tsp. baking powder
Dash of salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup buttermilk
5 egg whites whipped with 1/4 cup sugar

Cream Crisco and sugar. Sift together flour, salt, baking powder, and soda. Add slowly with milk. Then fold in egg white.

Bake in layer pans until done. 325°F.
