DEANNA'S MACARONI AND CHEESE
1 (1 lb.) box macaroni elbows
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
1 (12 oz.) can evaporated milk or cream
1 lb. Velveeta cheese

Boil macaroni in salt water for approximately 7 to 8 minutes. You do not want it completely done because the process finishes cooking it. Drain the water off leaving about 1 cup of water in it.

Mix in 1 stick of butter, 1 can of evaporated milk and 1 lb. Velveeta cheese. Heat on medium on stove until all is blended.

Put in glass dish and lay slices of cheese on top. Place in oven on broil until top is melted. Place it aside until it cools.

As it cools it will thicken up. It will be soupy when you first make it. Enjoy!

This was the recipe I have been looking for!! It is delicious, easy and creamy. It does not have the overpowering velveeta taste as I feared, nor is it grainy like baked macaroni recipes made with sharp chedder - it's perfect!! i added some black pepper and garlic salt, topped with shredded italian blend cheese. Delicious - thanks Deanna!!!

I cut the recipe in half, so that might have been my problem. It stayed soupy, but the flavor was delicious. My family all declared it a keeper!

My boyfriend was a little weary of the evaporated milk and fell in love with this recipe.... And this is impressive because shells and cheese is his favorite!!!!

I finally found a recipe that my children will eat, though for them, I served it straight from the pot, for my husband and I, I broiled with cheese. Very good.

Holy moly! If you grew up with Velveeta based mac and cheese, then this will knock your socks off it is so good! Everyone in my family raved about it! I used one pound of small shells pasta and the 2% Velveeta but otherwise made it exactly as written. I wouldn't change a thing (except maybe my waistline after too many servings) and definitely will make again.
