MISSISSIPPI MUD BARS 
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 whole egg
2 eggs, separated
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. chopped nuts
1/2 c. chocolate chips
1 c. marshmallows
1 c. brown sugar

Cream shortening with sugar until well blended. Add whole egg and 2 egg yolks; blend well. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Add to creamed mixture; mix well. Spread in a greased 9 x 13 inch pan. Sprinkle over the top of the nuts, chips and marshmallows in that order. Beat egg whites until stiff. Gradually beat in brown sugar until stiff. Spread over batter. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes.
