SCONES 
2 c. flour
2 tbsp. sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. butter
2/3 c. buttermilk
1 egg, beaten

1. Mix flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in medium bowl. Work 1/4 cup butter into flour mixture until mixture resembles crumbs. Mix buttermilk and egg in; stir into flour mixture. Dough will be light, spongy and rather sticky.

2. Shape dough into ball; dust with flour. Place on well floured board; gently roll to 1/2 inch thickness, handling dough as little as possible. Cut into 2 or 2 1/2 inch circles. Place scones on ungreased baking sheet.
