HEARTY GOULASH | |
1 lb. ground beef 1 c. onion, finely chopped 1 c. celery, sliced 1 c. green pepper, chopped 1 (28 oz.) can whole tomatoes with thick tomato puree 1 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. garlic powder 1/4 tsp. pepper 1 c. elbow macaroni Saute onion, celery and green pepper in a large skillet. Add the ground beef. Cook and stir until the meat is brown. Drain off fat. Slice the whole tomatoes. Add them with the juice to the meat. Add the salt, garlic powder and pepper. Stir. Cover and let simmer on low heat while you cook the macaroni. In a large pan, cook the macaroni as directed on the package. When done, remove the pan from the heat and drain macaroni. Return the macaroni to the pan and stir in the meat mixture. Allow to simmer on moderate heat 5 to 10 minutes. Serve. |
