UMW OATMEAL COOKIES 
3/4 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. raisins
1 c. pecans
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/4 c. water
1 tsp. salt
1 c. flour
3 c. oats
2 to 3 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. maple flavoring

Cream shortening and sugars. Add sifted dry ingredients, raisins, nuts, oats, and flavorings. Drop by rounded teaspoons on cookie sheet and bake about 8 minutes at 375 degrees.
