SHORTBREAD COOKIES 
1/2 c. finely granulated sugar
1/2 c. butter, softened
2 c. all-purpose flour, sifted

Mix all ingredients together and knead on lightly floured surface. Knead until texture becomes smooth; the longer, the better. Roll in 1/2 inch balls and flatten with fork onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 275 degrees for 20-25 minutes.
