FILLED COOKIES 
3 c. brown sugar
1 c. shortening
1 c. sour milk
3 tsp. baking soda
3 tsp. cream of tartar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
7 or 8 c. flour

FILLING:

2 c. raisins (ground)
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 tbsp. flour
2 c. water
2 tbsp. vinegar
1/4 c. butter

Make filling and let cool. Cream shortening and sugar; add eggs, and mix. Add vanilla and sour milk. Add dry ingredients slowly.

Roll dough to 1/8-inch thick and cut round circles. Place on cookie sheet and moisten edges of each cookie with water. Place filling on each and cover cookie with second round of dough in which a hole has been cut with a thimble. Press edges together and bake at 375 degrees for 12 minutes.
