FRESH CORN ON THE COB
(MICROWAVE)

Cook fresh corn on the cob in microwave with husks and silk intact. They will cook in their own natural moisture.

Place on dampened paper towel. Turn ears over and rearrange after 1/2 cooking time.

Cooking Timetable:

1 ear - 1 1/2 minutes
2 ears - 3 to 4 minutes
3 ears - 5 to 6 minutes
4 ears - 7 to 8 minutes
6 ears - 8 to 9 minutes.

When ears are hot to the touch, remove and wrap in kitchen towel or foil.

Let stand at least 5 minutes. Remove husks and silk (which is easier than when cold) and serve.

Serve with melted butter.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.

I too tried it by wrapping the corn in a damp paper towel and nuke for 2 minutes. I was amazed at how easy and fresh the corn tastes. Thank you!

I started corn on charcoal grill but ran out of heat. I threw them in micro for 2 minutes on each side. It came out perfect & the husk & silk just fell off. Tasted amazing & the easiest corn I have ever made!

 Lowndes (Georgia) says:
I put three ears in the microwave arranged in a triangle on the turntable. I set the timer for 2.5 minutes, rolled each ear over half way and did it again for 2.5 minutes, two more times , 7.5 minutes total, in a 900W microwave. They came out perfect!! And QUICK!! No sign of any silk.

 Steve (Florida) says:
After you are done cooking cut off the end that was attached to the stalk the corn will fall out of the husk with no silk attached. Just hold it upside down and shake it a little. You will be amazed.

 Green Giant (North Carolina) says:
After microwaving 4 min per ear with husk intact, cut through husk 1/2" above where ear and stem meet.

Then while holding tassels and top of husk, shake and corn cob will fall out bottom with all silk gone. Remains in the husk you are holding in your hand, best way to save time shucking and removing silk.

 Pam (United Kingdom) says:
After nuking, if you remove the tassel, then peel the greens right back on themselves so the whole thing has the shape of a torpedo with flames(!), you can use the greens as a handle.

 Melissa (Illinois) says:
You can use a used wax bag (like a bag that cereal comes in) to cook the corn in to keep it moist.

 Joyce (Indiana) says:
This is a great way to serve corn. Very tasty. You can also prepare corn when it has been frozen in the husk with additional minutes, Great way to have fresh corn throughout the year.

 Nel (Florida) says:
I've been cooking corn this way for several years, but instead of wrapping in paper towels or plastic, or soaking in water, I just place a small bowl of water in the microwave with the corn. It creates steam so everything cooks evenly, and there's no need to rearrange corn. (I use the same method for cooking baked potatoes, and sweet potatoes. Sweet potatoes cook evenly even when they are shaped with a tapered ends, which usually get done faster and sometimes become hard.)

Marcia - - from Wisconsin (United States) says:
My favorite method - - remove husks and silk from corn - put in zipper freezer bag - for one ear I set timer for 2 - 3 minutes but you could set it for 5 or 10 - time not crucial as bag will pop open when corn is cooked ! ! - - you'll hear it.

 Lindie (Wisconsin) says:
I husk the corn and simply put it in a ziplock type bag. Put it in the microwave and press "Fresh Veggies" setting or about 1-2 min per ear.I've done it this way for years. Super easy and OH...SO YUMMY!!!!

 Jacberrt (United States) says:
The way I do it, is to set microwave to 50% power and set time to 5 minutes. You will get a nice even heating (your microwave should have a turn table).

This is a great way to fix corn on the cob. It really is easy to shuck and tastes delicious!

 Jimbob (Washington) says:
i tried and loved it too. in the husk, 2 minutes for a large one, no water added - perfect. not sure about the plastic wrap method tho. i'm sure it tastes ok but u know what they say about soft plastics in the microwave and cancer carcinogens. . .

 Bob (New Jersey) says:
I wrap mine in plastic wrap instead - just before I do that, i run them under water from the tap - just so some water is in there with them - awesome
