GLENN'S FAVORITE SUGAR COOKIES 
1 c. butter
1 c. vegetable oil
2 c. sugar
5 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream butter and oil and add sugar and cream thoroughly. Then add eggs and vanilla; continue creaming. Sift flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt; add to creamed mixture. Form into a ball (dough is sort of stiff). Take small pieces from the big ball and roll into even-sized small balls and put on lightly greased cookie sheet. Pressed down with fork in criss-cross fashion or with a cookie press. bake at 350 degrees 10 minutes until light brown. Yields 6 dozen medium size cookies.
