DUTCH APPLE CAKE 
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
2 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. undiluted evaporated milk
2 c. finely chopped apples
1/2 c. chopped nuts
2 tbsp. sugar

Cream shortening, add sugars. Beat until fluffy. Beat in eggs. Sift together baking powder, soda, salt, cinnamon and flour. Add dry ingredients, alternately with milk. Fold in apples. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup nuts and the 2 tablespoons of sugar. Bake in 9 inch square pan in 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes or until done.
