3 c. sifted cake flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp.cloves
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. shortening
2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 c. sour milk or buttermilk
1 c. nuts, chopped
1 c. raisins, chopped

Sift flour, salt, soda and spices together. Cream shortening and sugar until sluffy. Add eggs. Add sifted ingredients alternately with milk in small amounts. Add nuts and raisins and mix thoroughly. Drop from teaspoon onto greased baking sheet and bake in moderate oven 350 degrees until brown. Makes 48.
