GRANDMA IDA'S CHOCOLATE MERINGUE
PIE
 
3 egg yolks
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. cocoa
1 tsp. vanilla
3 c. milk
3 tbsp. corn starch
1/2 stick butter

Combine sugar and corn starch. Beat eggs, add a little milk. Beat again. Add sugar mix to egg mix. Add rest of milk, melted butter and cocoa. Boil until thick. Add vanilla. Pour into pie crust and top with meringue, sealing edges. Bake at 350 degrees until meringue is golden.

MERINGUE:

1/2 c. sugar
3 egg whites
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar

Beat egg whites until foamy. Add sugar and cream of tartar a little at a time. Beat until peaks form when touched. Add to top of pie, sealing edges. Bake at 350 degrees until meringue is golden.
