GRANDMA'S CHOCOLATE MERINGUE PIE 
2 sq. bitter chocolate
1/2 c. sugar
3 tbsp. cornstarch
2 c. milk
3 egg yolks
2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt

MERINGUE:

3 egg whites
3 tbsp. sugar

Melt chocolate in double boiler. Mix well together sugar, cornstarch and egg yolks. Add milk and stir. Pour into double boiler with chocolate. Cook until thick, stirring constantly. When quite thick remove form fir, add vanilla and allow to cool. When cold, pour into baked pastry shell. Spread with meringue and brown.

Meringue: Beat egg whites stiff; add sugar, one teaspoon at a time. Beat after each addition. Start meringue from edge and fill to center. Sift 1 teaspoon sugar on top. Place in hot oven and brown for 2 minutes.
