GRANNIE MC KENZIE'S CHOCOLATE
MERINGUE PIE
 
1 1/4 c. sugar
3 tbsp. all purpose flour
3 tbsp. cornstarch
6 tbsp. cocoa powder
2 1/2 c. milk
1/2 tsp. salt
3 egg yolks
1 tsp. vanilla

MERINGUE:

3 egg whites
4 tbsp. sugar

Blend together sugar, flour, salt, cornstarch, cocoa. Stir into hot milk. Cook over hot water in double boiler until thick. Add small amount of hot mixture to beaten egg yolks. Stir well and add to mixture. Cook two minutes longer. Cool. Add vanilla. Pour into baked pie shell. Top with meringue and brown.

MERINGUE: Beat egg whites until stiff. Add 4 tablespoons sugar. Put on top of pie. Bake at 350 degrees until brown.
