SWEDISH MEAT BALLS 
2 lbs. ground beef
1/2 lb. pork sausage or ground pork
2 tbsp. cornstarch
2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 sm. onion, chopped
1 c. milk
1 qt. boiling water
Cooking oil
2 slices bread

Remove crusts from bread, moisten with water. Squeeze dry. Combine all ingredients and mix thoroughly. Form into small loose balls, 1 1/2 inch diameter and roll in flour. Place in flat pan in refrigerator until easy to handle. Brown in oil, add boiling water, and simmer 1 hour. Remove meatballs and thicken gravy. If making 1/2 recipe, still use 1 quart of water. Serves 8.
