RICH TEA BISCUITS | |
2 c. flour 4 tsp. Royal baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 4 tbsp. shortening 1 egg 1/2 c. milk Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Add shortening, mixing in well with fork. Beat egg slightly in measuring cup; add milk to make 3/4 cup; add to first mixture. Roll out about 1/2 inch thick; cut with floured biscuit cutter. Place on greased pan. Bake in hot 475 degree oven about 12 minutes. Makes 16. ORANGE MARMALADE BISCUITS: 1 recipe for Rich Tea Biscuits 1/3 c. orange marmalade Make rich biscuit dough, using 1/3 cup milk instead of 1/2 cup. Add orange marmalade to egg and milk mixture, then add to dry ingredients. Roll out and cut as for biscuits. Top each with a little marmalade; bake in hot 425 degree oven, about 15 minutes. Makes 16. |
