SPICED PEARS 
4 sm. pears
3 c. apple juice
1/4 c. packed light brown sugar
6 (3 inch) long cinnamon sticks
6 whole cloves
1 tbsp. lemon peel

Peel and core pears. Over medium heat cook pears in juice, brown sugar, cinnamon, cloves and lemon peel, about 30 minutes or until tender. Spoon pears and liquid into bowl. Cover and refrigerate until well chilled to blend flavors, about 4 hours. May eat as is or as topping for vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup.
