QUICK RISE WHITE BREAD | |
2 pkgs. dry yeast 3/4 c. warm water 1 1/4 c. buttermilk 4 1/2 to 5 c. flour 1/2 c. shortening 2 tbsp. sugar 2 tsp. baking powder 2 tsp. salt Dissolve yeast in water in large mixing bowl. Add buttermilk, 2 1/2 c. flour, shortening, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Blend really good on low speed. Stir in remaining 2 to 2 1/2 cups flour. Dough should remain soft and slightly sticky. Knead about 5 minutes. Let rise 1 hour. Bake at 425 degrees for 30-35 minutes. |
