SUGAR COOKIES 
1 1/2 c. confectioners sugar
1 c. butter
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. almond
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar

Cream sugar and butter together. Mix in egg and flavorings. Blend dry ingredients into mixture. Refrigerate for 2 to 3 hours. Roll out on lightly floured surface about 1/4 inch thick. Utilize cookie cutouts if desired. Bake at 375 degrees for 7 to 8 minutes on a greased cookie sheet.

BUTTER ICING:

1/3 c. butter
3 c. powdered sugar
3 tbsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Blend sugar and butter. Add milk and vanilla and beat until smooth and creamy.
