OATMEAL FRUIT BARS | |
1 1/2 c. dried fruit 1 c. hot water 1 1/2 c. sugar 1/2 c. shortening 1/2 c. peanut butter 2 or 3 tsp. vanilla 1 egg 2 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. salt 2 c. flour 4 c. oats Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Put dried fruit and water in a small bowl. Mix together in a large bowl, sugar, peanut butter and shortening. Add vanilla, egg, cinnamon, soda and salt and mix well. Add water from the fruit, then flour. Stir in fruit and oats. Spread on greased 10 x 15 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Cool and cut into squares. |
