OATMEAL COOKIES 
1 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. flour
2 eggs
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
3 c. quick oats
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. baking soda

Cream shortening and sugars. Mix in eggs and vanilla. Stir together flour, salt, soda and spices. Fold into creamed mixture. Stir in oats. Drop dough by rounded teaspoonful onto a greased cookie sheet.

Bake at 350°F for 10 to 12 minutes.

Makes 4 dozen.
