LANE CAKE 
8 egg whites
1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
1 c. sweet milk
4 c. plain flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
Pinch of salt

Have butter soft, cream, add sugar, continue to cream until fluffy and light. Add egg whites, unbeaten, one at a time. Mix well. Sift flour, baking powder, and salt together. Add flour and milk alternately to the cream mixture, beat until smooth, and free of lumps. Bake in layers at 375 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes or until light brown. Put on wire racks to cool.

LANE CAKE FILLING:

8 egg yolks
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
1 c. raisins (chopped)
1 c. pecans (chopped)
1 c. grated coconut
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tbsp. whiskey (or wine)

Beat yolks, add sugar, mix well. Add other ingredients. Cook in double boiler until thick. Spread between layers. Cover cake with your favorite white icing.
