CARLA PEEVY LANE CAKE 
CAKE:

1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. milk
3 1/4 c. plain flour, sifted
3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. salt
8 egg whites

ICING:

12 egg yolks
1 3/4 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. candied cherries
1/2 c. fresh coconut
3/4 c. butter
1/2 c. whiskey
1 1/2 c. nuts
1 1/2 c. raisins

CAKE: Cream butter and sugar, vanilla, then flour, salt, baking powder and beat until smooth. Add beaten egg whites and fold in. Bake at 325 degrees for approximately 30 minutes.

Use 4 (9") layer pans. Use wax paper and gently sprinkle with flour before putting batter in pan.

ICING: Beat egg yolks, add sugar, salt, butter and whiskey. After mixture is blended well, remove from heat. Cool. You can add fruit to liquid before icing or add afterward. Cake can be frozen. Do not substitute whiskey.
