JOHNNY'S ALL AMERICAN
APPLE-PEACH FREEDOM PIE

2 tbsp. all-purpose flour
1/2 cup fine sugar
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. vanilla
1-2 tbsp. butter
1/4 cup light cream or half & half
pinch of salt
1/4 tsp. lemon juice
5 or 6 peeled & sliced apples (mixed types are best)
1 cup sliced peaches (drained if canned)
2 pie crusts (Pillsbury)

Preheat oven to 450°F.

Place fruit in large mixing bowl. Combine flour, sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, butter and cream then mix thoroughly. Add a pinch of salt and sprinkle in the lemon juice and mix again until all the fruit is covered and the mix is consistent.

Melt some butter and brush it on the bottom crust, and sprinkle in some brown sugar. Then add the filling into the crust, cover with the top crust and seal the edges. Brush some more melted butter on top of the pie crust, and lightly sprinkle with a little brown sugar. Cut a few slits in top crust.

Reduce oven temperature to 400°F and place in oven. Bake at 400°F for 45 to 50 minutes.

Cool on wire rack for 15 or more minutes.

Variation: For just an All-American Apple Pie... delete the peaches. Serve pie warm or cool, but always enjoy the delicious taste of Freedom!
