DAL SOUP 
THIS IS AN AUTHENTIC INDIAN SOUP.

1 tbsp. oil
1 tsp. cumin seeds
2 med. onions
1/2 tsp. turmeric powder
1 c. yellow split peas
6 c. water
salt to taste
1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
1/2 tsp. ground black pepper
1 tbsp. lemon juice
12 tbsp. boiled rice

Heat oil, add cumin seeds and onions. Fry until cumin seeds change color. Add turmeric powder and yellow split peas for 1 minute. Add water, salt, cayenne, black pepper. Bring to boil and simmer for 30 minutes until peas are tender. Place soup in blender and puree mixture. Place 2 tablespoons of rice in each serving bowl and pour soup over rice. Serve and enjoy!
