2 tbsp. butter 2 c. flour 5 egg yolks, lightly beaten 1/4 c. milk 1/4 tsp. salt 1 tbsp. rum Flour for flouring board, oil for deep frying Vanilla confectioners sugar 1 vanilla bean in 2 c. confectioners for 2 or 3 days Cut butter into flour. Add egg yolks and milk mixed with rum. Dough should not be too wet. Beat dough against board until bubbles appear. Set aside 30 minutes, working with small amount of dough, roll into a sheet 1/8 inch thick. Cut into long strips about 1 inch wide by 4 inches long, cutting end diagonally. Makes slit in center and pull one end through. Heat oil to 350 degrees. Fry a few at a time. Put on paper towel. Sprinkle confectioners sugar (vanilla). Makes 48. |
