APPLE CRUMB DESSERT | |
1 box Zwieback biscuits 3 lb. bacon McInstoch apples 1 stick butter 4 tbsp. sugar 1 tbsp. cinnamon Whipped cream (for topping) 8 or 9 inch square pan Grease pan. Crush biscuits into fine crumbs. Add sugar and cinnamon to crumbs. Melt butter in fry pan. Add crumb mixture, brown slightly. Line bottom of square pan with 1/2 of the crumbs. Peel, core and cut each apple in eights. Cook apples in 3 quart pan with 1/2 cup water for a few minutes until just about tender (water should evaporate). With a fork break apples into smaller chunks. Spoon apples over crumbs. Top with remaining crumbs. Chill dessert. When ready to serve cut into squares. Top with whipped cream. |
