WALDORF RED VELVET CAKE 
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1/4 c. red food color
1 tsp. salt
2 1/4 c. sifted cake flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tbsp. cocoa
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vinegar

Cream together shortening and sugar. Add eggs, beating 1 minute. Add salt. Mix vanilla in buttermilk. Add alternately with flour. Add food coloring and cocoa. Put vinegar and soda into a cup. Mix and add to cake batter.

Bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes in two round cake pans. Cool and remove from pans. Frost with Red Velvet Icing.
