2 egg whites 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar 1/2 c. sugar Variation ingredients: mint chocolate chips, coconut macaroons In small mixing bowl, beat egg whites with cream of tartar at high speed until foamy. Add sugar, 2 tablespoons at a time, beating constantly until sugar is dissolved and whites are glossy and stand in soft peaks. Fold in variation ingredients as desired. Drop by rounded teaspoon or pipe through a pastry tube into greased or lined baking sheets. Bake in preheated 225 degree oven until firm, about 1/2 hour. Store in tightly sealed containers. To recrisp, bake in preheated 200 degree oven for about 15 to 20 minutes. |
