FRUIT ROCKS FOR THE CHRISTMAS
BOWL

1 lb. dates
1 lb. pecans
4 oz. candied cherries
4 egg whites
1 tbsp. vanilla
1 slice candied green pineapple
1 slice candied yellow pineapple
1 c. flour
1 c. sugar
Citron, if desired (I don't)

Cut candied fruit and pecans. Don't chop them too small. Cut each date in about 4 pieces. Cut pecans as desired in halves or in 4 pieces. Cut cherries the same. Cut pineapples as desired. Place in a mixing bowl, adding sugar and flour. Mix the flour, until the pieces are divided as the dates have a tendency to be gooey and sticky. Add the stiffly beaten egg whites and vanilla into the other ingredients. Mix with your hands. After all is mixed well, roll into small balls by taking some mixture in hands, squeezing, then rolling in the palm of the hands to make neat balls. Keep a bowl of water handy to keep hands moist so the mixture will not stick to your hands. Bake 30 minutes in greased pans 350 degrees. When taken out of the oven the balls will be soft. Let them stand about 30 minutes or until cool.
