1 pkg. Betty Crocker Honey spice cake mix
2/3 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 c. oats
1/4 c. water
1 c. chopped dates
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Combine half the cake (dry mix), the shortening and eggs in mixing bowl; mix thoroughly. Blend in remaining cake mix (dry mix), the oats and water. Stir in dates and nuts. Drop dough by teaspoonfuls, about 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes. Makes about 5 dozen.
