CHOCOLATE CHIP OATMEAL SPICE
COOKIES
 
2 c. shortening
3 c. brown sugar
4 eggs
1 c. buttermilk or sour milk
3 1/2 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. salt
6 c. quick cooking rolled oats
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. nutmeg
12 oz. chocolate chips

Cream shortening, sugar and eggs. Stir in buttermilk.

Sift together the dry ingredients and stir into the creamed mixture.

Stir in the oatmeal and chocolate chips.

Drop from a teaspoon 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 8 minutes. Makes 6 dozen.
