GRANDMA ST. GEMME'S PERFECT PIE
CRUST
 
4 c. unsifted all-purpose flour
1 tbsp. white or cider vinegar
1/2 c. cold water
1 tbsp. sugar
2 tsp. salt
1 3/4 c. solid vegetable shortening
1 lg. egg

Put flour, sugar and salt in large bowl and mix well. Add shortening and mix until crumbly. In small bowl beat together 1/2 cup water, vinegar and egg. Combine 2 mixtures; stir until all ingredients are moistened. Divide into patties for rolling. Refrigerate. Makes 5 or 6 (9 inch) pie shells.
