APPLE STREUSEL DESSERT 
PASTRY:

2 c. flour
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. butter
2 egg yolks, beaten

FILLING:

4 c. apples, sliced
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
2 egg whites, slightly beaten

GLAZE:

3/4 c. powdered sugar
3/4 tsp. vanilla
1 tbsp. butter
3 tsp. hot water

To Make Pastry: combine 2 cups flour, 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder and salt. Cut in 1 cup butter then mix in beaten egg yolks. Press with your fingers half of the pastry into ungreased 9 x 13 inch pan.

To Make Filling: Mix together the apples, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/4 cup flour, cinnamon and nutmeg. Pour apple mixture evenly over pastry. Then crumble second half of pastry over filling. Brush or drizzle slightly beaten egg whites on crumbled pastry. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes. Let cool to lukewarmish and drizzle with glaze.

TO Make Glaze: Put powdered sugar, 1 tablespoon butter and vanilla in small mixing bowl; pour hot water over it and stir to combine.
