APPLE PIE 
Pie crust for 9-inch double crust pie
3/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
Dash of salt
6 c. tart apples, thinly sliced

Heat oven to 425 degrees. Prepare pastries. Stir together sugar, flour, nutmeg, cinnamon and salt. Mix well with sliced apples. Turn into pastry-lined pie plate. Cover with top crust which has slits cut in it for steam to escape. Seal crust edges and flute. Cover edge with a 2-3 inch strip of aluminum foil to prevent excessive browning of crust. Remove foil last 15 minutes of baking.

Bake at 425 degrees for 40-50 minutes or until crust is golden brown and juice begins to bubble through slits.

NOTE: If you prefer to use green apples, increase sugar to 1 1/4 cups.
