DIVINITY 
3 c. sugar
1/2 c. white syrup
3/4 c. water
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
2 egg whites

Mix sugar, syrup, water and salt. Cook until dissolved over a low flame (without stirring) in a covered pan for 3 minutes. Uncover and continue cooking until it forms a very firm ball when dropped into cold water.

Beat egg whites until stiff; slowly add cooked syrup to egg whites, beating continuously. When it will hold its shape, add nuts (if desired). Drop by spoonful onto wax paper.
