SAWMILL GRAVY 
4-6 smoked sausage patties, crumbled
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. plain flour
2 c. whole milk
Salt to taste
Pepper to taste

Fry sausage in a skillet on medium heat until well done. Remove sausage from the skillet and set aside. Add shortening (preferably bacon grease) to the skillet. Let the grease get hot. Add the flour to the hot grease, stirring constantly. While still stirring add the milk. Continue cooking until gravy thickens to your taste. Add salt and pepper to taste. Crumble cooked sausage into gravy.
