MEAT BALLS AND CABBAGE 
This has been a family favorite for over 35 years.

1 to 1 1/2 lb. ground round
1 egg
1 med. onion, chopped
1/2 head cabbage, coarsely shredded
1/4 tsp. each salt and pepper

Mix above into large meat balls, at least 1/2 cup in size. Don't worry about cabbage pieces sticking out. Place in well greased pan and bake at 400 degrees until firm and browned. About 25 minutes. In a large baking pan put layers of:

2 heads of cabbage, cut in 1/6 slices
6 med. potatoes, peeled and quartered
4 med. onions, peeled and quartered
8 carrots peeled and cut in serving pieces

Baste with about 5 tablespoons bacon dripping and 3/4 cup water. Bake at 350 degrees for 2 1/2 to 3 hours until vegetables are tender.
